Everton are reportedly eyeing a summer deal for 26-year-old Leicester City star Kelechi Iheanacho.
According to Football Transfers, Premier League side Everton are keeping close tabs on 26-year-old Leicester City star Kelechi Iheanacho in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Nigerian international came through the ranks at Taye Academy and Manchester City before moving to the King Power Stadium in 2017. Since then, he has made 206 appearances for the Blues, scoring 55 goals and making 33 assists across all competitions.
Primarily a centre forward, Iheanacho is capable of playing anywhere along the frontline and also as a secondary striker if needed. This is good news for Everton whose attack has lacked bite over the course of the 2022/23 season.
The Toffees have failed to replace Richarlison and Anthony Gordon adequately, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues to struggle with injuries. A striker is on the agenda at Goodison Park this summer with Sean Dyche keen to reinforce his attack.
Everton were in talks for Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto and Almeria striker El Bilal Toure. However, the Toffees are yet to reach an agreement with Leeds United for the former, while the latter is inching towards a summer switch to Atalanta.
At 26, Iheanacho is entering his prime and has considerable experience playing in the Premier League. The 45-cap Nigerian international is good enough to return to the top flight this summer and could prove to be a good fit for Everton.
An excellent passer, Iheanacho is also a clinical goalscorer and would certainly amplify the Toffees frontline. His aerial prowess remains a massive weakness and this could prevent Dyche from deploying him as a holding forward.
The Nigerian striker could thrive in a front two alongside Calvert-Lewin, offering a new dimension for opposition defences to be concerned about. Iheanacho could do with a fresh start and Goodison Park could give him the opportunity to do just that.
Having already signed Arnaut Danjuma on loan, Everton are better equipped than last season to avoid a relegation scrap. Scoring more goals will certainly make their life easier, or potentially even push them higher up the standings to a mid-table finish.
