Genoa join race to sign Cesare Casadei from Chelsea

Cesare Casadei has been linked with a temporary move away from Chelsea this summer, with Serie A club Genoa interested.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Serie A outfit Genoa have now joined the race to sign Cesare Casadei on loan. The 20-year-old Chelsea prodigy is also a target for Leicester City this summer.

Casadei is highly rated at Stamford Bridge, but he needs to leave the club on loan in order to play regularly. Sitting on the bench at a big club will not benefit his development right now. So it will be interesting to see if Chelsea can sort out a temporary move for him.

Apparently, Leicester City are keen on signing the midfielder as well, and Chelsea are currently locked in talks over his future. The Blues are expected to pick the best solution for the Italian midfielder, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

A move to his homeland could provide him with the perfect platform to showcase his abilities without being put under too much pressure. That said, a loan at Leicester City would also allow him to get more used to English football.

The 20-year-old has all the attributes to develop into a quality first-team player for Chelsea, and he will look to continue his development with regular football at Genoa and return as a better player next summer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has been linked with a loan move away from the club as well. But Fabrizio Romano has claimed that he has a good chance of staying at Stamford Bridge for the upcoming season.

Chelsea are already lacking in depth when it comes to the midfield, and they will not want to weaken their squad severely. Casadei will be hoping to force his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team plans in the coming seasons. But it remains to be seen whether he can have a fruitful loan spell at Genoa first.

The 20-year-old is certainly good enough for Serie A, and he could be a useful asset for the Italian outfit next season. Signing him on loan would help save their resources as well, and he could prove to be a bargain for them if he manages to hit the ground running.
