Official: Rasmus Hojlund completes Manchester United move

Highly-rated 20-year-old striker Rasmus Hojlund has joined Manchester United from Atalanta in a deal worth £72 million.

Rasmus Hojlund is now officially a Manchester United player. The Red Devils have made an official statement to confirm that they have secured the services of the highly-rated 20-year-old. They have paid £72 million to Atalanta to land the young striker, who has signed a five-year contract.

Hojlund expressed his delight at completing the transfer. He said, “It is no secret that I have been a fan of this great club since I was a small boy, and I dreamed of walking out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player. I am incredibly excited by this opportunity to turn that dream into a reality, and I am determined to repay the faith that the club has shown in me.”

“It is still early in my career, but I know that I am ready to make this step up and play with this group of world-class players. Once I had spoken to the manager, I knew that this environment would be perfect for my development; I am relishing the opportunity to work with one of the best coaches in the world.”

Rasmus Hojlund has taken no time to see his stock skyrocket. That is despite not being prolific enough in his short professional career thus far. The Danish international has found the back of the net only 27 times for the three clubs he has represented. But he has always shown flashes of the brilliant potential he possesses.

The highly-rated 20-year-old joined Atalanta from Sturm Graz last summer and managed ten goals and four assists in 34 appearances. Hojlund has also made his mark on the international stage, scoring six times in as many appearances. And the youngster’s progress soon captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Manchester United.

Manchester United initially wanted to sign Hojlund in a part-exchange deal from Atalanta. But the Serie A giants were adamant that he would only move if his suitors met the club’s asking price. The two clubs subsequently ramped up the negotiations before Manchester United finally secured an agreement with La Dea.

According to BBC, the two clubs have agreed on a deal worth £72 million. And Hojlund has signed a five-year contract, with Manchester United reserving the option of another year. So the highly-rated 20-year-old has become the third summer signing for Manchester United after Mason Mount and Andre Onana.
