Franck Kessie does not want to join Juventus and is instead waiting to move to the Premier League amid links with Tottenham Hotspur.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Franck Kessie will only leave Barcelona if he secures a move to the Premier League. The Barcelona midfielder does not want to join Juventus in the ongoing transfer window. And with Tottenham Hotspur interested in him, a switch to the London club might be on the cards.
Franck Kessie will be aghast at his situation after becoming a rotation option for Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez. The Ivory Coast international joined the Blaugrana on a free transfer last summer after running down his contract. But he would not have anticipated struggling for regular starts at Spotify Camp Nou.
The 26-year-old has made 43 appearances thus far for Barcelona, but he has not even managed 2,000 minutes of game time. So something needs to change before Kessie’s career spirals out of control. And Barcelona will happily part ways with the former AC Milan talisman in the ongoing transfer window.
The Ivorian midfielder does not have a shortage of suitors either, with interest emanating from Italy, England, and Saudi Arabia. And recent reports have claimed that the Barcelona midfielder is closing in on joining Juventus. But he does not want to return to Italy and is instead pining for a move to the Premier League.
Recent reports have linked the Barcelona midfielder with Tottenham and Aston Villa. And the report by SPORT suggests the former might be in the picture to secure Kessie’s services this summer. The interest in the 26-year-old also makes sense, considering the style of play Ange Postecoglou wants to implement.
In addition, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. And with Atletico Madrid inching closer to landing Hojbjerg, the North London club can do with a replacement. Kessie is thus a viable target for Tottenham, with the player’s stance leaving them in a handy position.
It will be interesting to see if Juventus can do anything to turn Kessie’s head. But amid the Ivory Coast international’s desire to move to the Premier League, Tottenham might be in the pole position to secure his services.
