Mohammed Kudus ready to snub Chelsea in favour of Arsenal

Chelsea are keen on having 22-year-old Ajax sensation Mohammed Kudus in their ranks, but he prefers joining Arsenal.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Chelsea want to sign Mohammed Kudus ahead of next season. The 22-year-old Ajax star has been on fire over the past 12 months and the Blues are pushing for his signatures at this point in time.

Kudus joined Ajax back in the summer of 2020 from Nordsjaelland. He has since gone from strength to strength. The Ghanaian international has been involved in a total of 84 matches for the Dutch club. He has scored 23 goals and has also bagged 11 assists.

The 22-year-old is a versatile player capable enough to feature in the midfield as well as attack. He is a huge prospect for the future and is on the radar of multiple clubs from across Europe. Last season he was used in three different positions, Kudus featured as a striker, an attacking midfielder and a right winger. He ended up scoring 18 goals and also managed to contribute with seven assists in his 42 appearances.

Meanwhile, the Ajax star has been on the radar of Manchester United. The Red Devils consider him to be an alternative to Rasmus Hojlund. They are pushing for the signatures of the Danish striker but if they fail to land him at the club, Erik ten Hag’s team will shift their focus towards the 22-year-old.

At this point in time, Arsenal and Chelsea are in the race for Kudus’s signatures. Both clubs are looking for attacking reinforcement and have their eyes set on the Ghanaian international.

The Gunners are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season as they look to once again push for the Premier League title. Mikel Arteta’s team are interested in the 22-year-old’s services because of his versatility, his arrival will give the Spanish manager multiple options to work with.

Arsenal have already spent a fortune on new players and before making any further signings, they will have to raise a significant amount by offloading a few of their players.

Meanwhile, the Blues struggled for goals last time out and have already sold the likes of Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz. They are now in desperate need of reinforcement in attack and are looking to sign players who can add goals to their ranks. The 22-year-old seems to be a perfect fit for the Blues.

While there have been reports that the player is ready to join Chelsea, if he had the option to choose between the two clubs, he would prefer making the move to the Gunners. And, according to the report, Champions League football has a big part to play in his desire to join Arteta’s team.
