Barcelona set to officiate Alejandro Balde renewal

Barcelona will soon officiate the new long-term deal of 19-year-old Spanish international Alejandro Balde, a target for Manchester City.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Alejandro Balde is the subject of interest from Manchester City. But he will not move to the Etihad in the summer transfer window. And Barcelona will soon officiate the new long-term deal that the youngster has agreed to sign.

Alejandro Balde has been with Barcelona for over a decade, arriving at the club from local rival RCD Espanyol. The 19-year-old progressed through the ranks in La Masia before making his first-team debut in September 2021. But he had to wait till the 2022/23 season to become a regular for Barcelona.

The Spanish international also made his debut for La Roja in the past year while becoming a pivotal figure for Barcelona. The youngster turned out 44 times across all competitions, chipping in with one goal and seven assists. But Balde has entered the final year of his Barcelona contract, leaving the Blaugrana in a spot of bother.

Widespread reports have claimed that Barcelona and Balde have sealed an agreement over a new contract. But Barcelona’s financial issues mean they must balance the books before officiating the new deal. So they have to offload fringe players from the first-team squad, thus delaying the renewal.

In the meantime, the 19-year-old Spanish international has seen his progress capture the attention of several high-profile clubs. And recent reports have linked Balde with Manchester City. And with Pep Guardiola’s squad lacking a reliable left-back, the Barcelona wonderkid has emerged as a viable target.

But Balde is not interested in joining Manchester City. In fact, he does not want to move to any other club and is waiting for Barcelona to officiate the new deal. And good news has arrived, with the Blaugrana on the verge of formalising the contract in the coming weeks.

The deal, which will expire on June 30, 2028, will include a release clause worth €1 billion. So Manchester City will not secure Balde’s services in the summer transfer window. And the 19-year-old Spanish international will hope to enjoy a long and fruitful career with Barcelona once the new contract is official.
