Liverpool could battle it out with a few clubs to secure the services of 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.
According to L’Equipe via Sport Witness, Liverpool are keen on having Marco Verratti in their ranks. The Merseyside club are trying to complete an overhaul in the centre of the park and could push for the services of the 30-year-old.
Verratti has been one of the faces of the Paris Saint-Germain squad for over a decade now. He joined them back in the summer of 2012 and has since gone from strength to strength making over 400 appearances for the French club.
The Italian international has contributed towards 72 goals during his time in Paris and has been the mainstay of their midfielder. The 30-year-old has been a great servant for the club. But of late his future has been uncertain, with his market value standing at €40 million.
While the focus has been on the future of Kylian Mbappé, Verrati could also be subject to a move elsewhere. The former Pescara midfielder’s contract with the French club runs until the summer of 2026. However, the amount of interest in his services suggests a move in the ongoing window is very much possible.
Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in his services. The Merseyside club struggled last season because of an inconsistent midfield, and their entire focus has been on completing an overhaul in the centre of the park.
While they have already acquired the services of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, they might still need a few more midfield signings ahead of next season. Jurgen Klopp’s team have already parted ways with James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keïta. And, they could lose out on Jordan Henderson and Fabinho in the coming weeks. As a result, their interest in the 30-year-old is quite understandable.
However, they are not the only clubs interested in the 30-year-old midfielder. Atletico Madrid are keen on having him in their ranks. Their manager Diego Simeone has been following the 30-year-old for a while now and is desperate to have him in his ranks.

While Simeone’s team are pushing hard for his services, there is interest from the Saudi Pro League as well. Al-Hilal are ready to make a move for the Italian international. With Atlético and Al-Hilal keen, it won’t be easy for the Merseyside club to acquire his services.
