Liverpool had a disappointing Premier League campaign last year and they missed out on Champions League qualification. They will be hoping to bounce back strongly next season and they need the right reinforcements in order to get back to their best.

Liverpool have made an impressive start to the summer transfer window with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Mac Allister has been a proven performer in the Premier League with Brighton and Hove Albion and the 24-year-old World Cup winner could prove to be a quality acquisition. He could certainly replace someone like Naby Keita and help Liverpool control the game and create goal-scoring opportunities.

Meanwhile, Szoboszlai has been a key player for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga and he is expected to fill the void left by Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. The 22-year-old Hungarian is a box-to-box midfielder who will help out defensively and contribute with his offensive qualities as well.

Here at the Hard Tackle, we look at three signings Liverpool should consider from the recently relegated Premier League clubs.

The 19-year-old Southampton midfielder was quite impressive in the Premier League last season, despite his side being relegated to the Championship.

The former Manchester City midfielder did well to break up the opposition play and shield the back four.

Liverpool are in desperate need of someone like him, especially with star midfielder Fabinho failing to match up to the lofty standards set by himself a few seasons ago.

The Brazilian defensive midfielder has clearly regressed and Jurgen Klopp must look to start planning for a future without him.

Lavia has the potential to develop into a top-class midfielder and Klopp could be the ideal manager to groom him into a star for Liverpool.

The Belgian has been linked with a move to Arsenal as well and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool can beat the Gunners to his signature.

It is no surprise that Liverpool need to add more depth in the right-back department.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the only reliable defender at the club as far as the right full-back position is concerned.

Alexander-Arnold has been used in the midfield at times during the second half of the season and the England international excelled in his new role.

If Klopp plans to continue using the player higher up the pitch, he needs to bring in a specialist right-back.

The former Chelsea defender is unlikely to stay in the Championship following Southampton’s relegation and he would be a solid, long-term acquisition for Liverpool.

Livramento has the attributes to develop into a reliable defender for the Reds in the coming seasons.

Duje Caleta-Car

The Croatian international defender has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past. However, the move did not materialise and the player joined Southampton last summer.

Caleta-Car is an impressive reader of the game, and he is exceptional with his passing from the back.

Furthermore, the towering defender is quite a handful when it comes to defending and attacking set pieces.

Liverpool need to add more quality defensively, especially with players like Joel Matip and Joe Gomez faltering last season. Caleta-Car could be a quality acquisition for Liverpool.
