Juventus recently approached Barcelona to discuss a possible summer move for 26-year-old Ivorian midfield general Franck Kessie.
According to reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Franck Kessie is the subject of interest from Juventus. And the Serie A giants have submitted an enquiry to Barcelona for the 26-year-old. The reigning La Liga champions are ready to cash in on the struggling midfield general this summer.
Franck Kessie has seen his progress halt since joining Barcelona from AC Milan last summer. The Ivory Coast international arrived at Spotify Camp Nou in a Bosman move. So Barcelona did not take much risk to secure his services. However, the player would not have envisioned being a bit-part player for the Blaugrana.
The 26-year-old could not even manage 2,000 minutes of game time, starting only 16 games in all competitions. And with Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi, and summer signing Ilkay Gundogan ahead of him in the pecking order, Kessie’s fortunes will unlikely improve. But Juventus might offer him an escape route from his Barcelona struggles.
Juventus might have re-signed Adrien Rabiot to a short-term contract. But their midfield unit has had issues brewing for a long time. Leandro Paredes has returned to Paris Saint-Germain following the end of his loan spell. In addition, Denis Zakaria’s Juventus future is non-existent amid heavy links with West Ham United.
Kessie has thus emerged as a viable target for Juventus. And considering the Barcelona midfield general has extensive experience in Serie A, his bedding-in period should be short. Meanwhile, the Serie A giants have already made exploratory contacts with Barcelona for the 26-year-old.
With Barcelona open to cashing in on the Ivorian midfield general, Juventus will be in contention to land him. In addition, recent reports have claimed he is open to leaving Barcelona to resurrect his stuttering career. But Kessie’s next destination will take some time to become clearer amid links with several other clubs.
Apart from Juventus, both Milan clubs are also keen on securing Kessie’s services. In addition, the 26-year-old is the subject of interest from Saudi Arabian outfits. So it will be interesting to see if the Serie A giants can land the Barcelona midfield general this summer.
