Levi Colwill rebuffs Chelsea contract offer

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill returned to the club after his loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, with Liverpool keen on signing him.

Levi Colwill has been linked with a move away from Chelsea, who are reportedly looking to offer him a new contract. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 20-year-old will not sign an extension with Chelsea until he gets clarity over his role at the club. He has knocked back a contract offer amid interest from Liverpool.

The defender is set for talks with manager Mauricio Pochettino before deciding on his future at Stamford Bridge. He is highly rated in England, and he has a big future ahead of him. A move away from Chelsea could provide him with a fresh opportunity.

He has been linked heavily with a move to Liverpool, who need to bring in defenders this summer. Colwill could be the ideal long-term replacement for someone like Joel Matip.

The defender will look to play regularly at this stage of his career, and a move away from Chelsea might not be such a bad idea if the Blues are not willing to give him regular first-team opportunities.

Colwill is a tremendous talent, and he showed his quality at Brighton and Hove Albion last season. The defender has all the attributes to develop into a top-class player in the near future. Meanwhile, Chelsea will look to convince him to stay at Stamford Bridge for the long term.

The Blues are one of the biggest clubs in the country, and they are looking to put together a squad capable of challenging for major trophies. Colwill would be a solid, long-term option for Chelsea as they look to improve their defensive options.

The Blues have parted ways with Kalidou Koulibaly during the summer transfer window after a dismal campaign from the experienced defender. Chelsea will need to replace him adequately and Colwill would be a superb option. Regular football under Mauricio Pochettino could help him develop further and fulfil his tremendous potential.

The Argentine manager has a proven track record of nurturing talented young players, and he showed his ability to develop talented young players at Tottenham. He could be the ideal manager to get the best out of the Chelsea defender. Chelsea looked vulnerable at the back last season, and the 20-year-old defender could help them tighten up defensively next year.
