Hakim Ziyech transfer breaks down after failed medical

Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech was expected to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr this summer.

However, the move seems to have collapsed after the player failed a medical with them. According to journalist Santi Aouna, Al-Nassr have identified a knee problem for the Moroccan international.

Ziyech was previously close to leaving Chelsea back in January when he had a medical with Paris Saint-Germain. However, the move collapsed eventually.

The 30-year-old will be bitterly disappointed with the situation and it remains to be seen whether he can secure an exit from Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.

He is not a key player for Chelsea and he struggled for regular game time at the club last season.

It is evident that he is not a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at the London club and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

The 30-year-old was a key player for his country in the recently concluded World Cup and he showed his quality at the international level. There is no doubt that he’s a top-class player on his day and regular football away from Chelsea would be ideal for him at this stage of his career.

The former Ajax midfielder has proven himself at the highest level for club and country and he could have been a key player for Al-Nassr. He would have added creativity, flair, vision and goals in the final third.

Chelsea are already well-stocked in the attacking department and they will be hoping to get rid of the fringe players before the window closes.

The knee problem for Ziyech presents the Blues with a complex problem and it remains to be seen whether any club is willing to take a risk and sign the player despite the medical issues.

Chelsea have spent significant sums of money on new signings over the last couple of windows and they need to sell some players in order to balance the books. The Blues are treading a thin line when it comes to the financial fair play regulations and they will be desperate to get rid of players like Ziyech in the coming weeks.
