Barcelona will soon present an offer worth €10 million-plus-€5 million to sign Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord this summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Lutsharel Geertruida is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The newly-crowned La Liga champions are ready to table an initial bid worth €10 million to sign the Dutch full-back. In addition, they will also offer €5 million in add-ons to Feyenoord.
Lutsharel Geertruida has seen his stock skyrocket in the wake of Feyenoord’s Eredivisie-winning 2022/23 campaign. The 22-year-old was a regular as Arne Slot’s side beat PSV Eindhoven and Ajax to the title. At the same time, he has broken into the Netherlands’ senior side, making his debut earlier this year.
The Dutch full-back turned out 41 times across all competitions this past season, chipping in with three goals and three assists. And Geertruida’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, with Barcelona being one of his prospective suitors.
Barcelona will attempt to sign a right-back in the summer transfer window. The position has been the Achilles Heel for the Blaugrana since Dani Alves’s first stint at Camp Nou ended. And they have been unable to identify the Brazilian’s long-term heir in the last few years. But Joan Laporta has asserted that Barcelona will look to address the problem this year.
Several right-backs have thus popped up on Barcelona’s radar, with Geertruida emerging as a viable target. And the 22-year-old’s offensive-minded approach on the flanks makes him an attractive option for Barcelona. The newly-crowned La Liga champions are now lining up a summer move for him.
The report claims that Barcelona will table an initial bid worth €10 million. In addition, they are willing to offer €5 million in performance-linked bonuses to Feyenoord. But it is unclear if such a miserly offer will be enough to convince the Eredivisie champions to part ways with the youngster.
Apart from Geertruida, Ivan Fresneda is also a target for Barcelona. And the Spaniard might yet remain in La Liga amid interest from Borussia Dortmund. It will be interesting to see which of the two right-backs moves to Spotify Camp Nou in the summer transfer window.
