Liverpool and Khephren Thuram have reportedly reached a verbal agreement over personal terms ahead of a possible summer move.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Khephren Thuram has taken a step closer to joining Liverpool in the summer transfer window. Personal terms will not be an issue for either party. But it is unclear if the Reds are willing to pay the £55 million OGC Nice will demand to sell the Frenchman.
Khephren Thuram spent his formative years with three French clubs, starting at Olympique de Neuilly before passing through AC Boulogne-Billancourt. And the 22-year-old graduated from the AS Monaco Academy a few years ago. But his stock has risen exponentially since joining OGC Nice in July 2019.
The younger son of Lilian Thuram and Marcus Thuram’s brother, Khephren has forged his own identity in France. And the French international has turned out 138 times thus far for Nice, chipping in with eight goals and 11 assists. And the youngster’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Liverpool.
Liverpool will sign multiple midfielders in the summer transfer window. The Reds are losing James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as free agents. In addition, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson’s dipping performance levels are a cause for concern. So it behoves Liverpool to bolster the midfield unit heavily ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The Reds have thus already signed Alexis Mac Allister, with the Argentine international joining them this week. But Liverpool will continue to work on deals for other midfielders. And Khephren Thuram’s name ranks high on Liverpool’s wishlist of midfielders heading into the summer transfer window.
Thuram’s representatives have been in talks with Liverpool for a few weeks. And those discussions have reaped the rewards for the Merseyside club, with personal terms not an issue. But while the verbal agreement is done, what might be a problem is OGC Nice’s asking price of £55 million.

It is unclear if Liverpool will be open to shelling out £55 million to sign the young Frenchman. But considering his ceiling, it might be a worthwhile investment on the Merseyside club’s part. For now, the two parties have verbally agreed to the personal terms on offer from Liverpool.
