Newcastle United will reportedly look to beat Arsenal to the signature of Declan Rice, value at £100 million by West Ham United.
According to a report by Football Insider, Declan Rice is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are plotting a hijack of Arsenal’s move for the English international. Meanwhile, West Ham United will demand £100 million to part ways with him after winning a European trophy this season.
Declan Rice is one of the hottest properties in the market heading into the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old has been an excellent performer for West Ham United for over half a decade. And he became the Hammers’ captain last summer following Mark Noble’s retirement.
The English international has turned out nearly 250 times for West Ham, chipping in with 15 goals and 13 assists. And Rice helped deliver a European trophy this season after winning the UEFA Europa Conference League. But the player’s stint with West Ham will end this summer, with Arsenal and Newcastle United keen on signing him.
Rice has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time. And widespread reports have claimed that the Gunners are the front-runners to secure his services. But West Ham’s asking price of £100 million is a problem for Arsenal, who will unlikely match the valuation. But Rice is a viable target, as Granit Xhaka will depart from the Emirates this summer.
Meanwhile, personal terms will not be an issue, with both parties wanting the move. And Arsenal will soon present the first offer to sign the West Ham United captain this summer. But the Gunners face a hijack from Newcastle United in the race to sign the 24-year-old.
Newcastle United will invest heavily into the first-team squad this summer. The Magpies are in the market for multiple reinforcements as they get ready to return to the UEFA Champions League. And signing Rice can bolster the Newcastle United midfield unit considerably.
