Brighton & Hove Albion want £80-85 million for Moises Caicedo

Brighton & Hove Albion are seeking at least £80-85 million for Moises Caicedo but are open to part-exchange offers too.

According to Football Insider, Brighton & Hove Albion could demand at least £80-85 million for Moises Caicedo. The Seagulls are open to part-exchange offers from suitors, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. The Ecuadorian midfielder has come in high demand, with his club confident of receiving a hefty fee in the window.

The story of Moises Caicedo has all the hallmarks of a protracted transfer saga. The midfielder has plenty of interest from top Premier League teams, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. His efforts in helping the Seagulls into next season’s Europa League have also improved his valuations in the market.

Reports suggested Brighton may want £100 million or more for Caicedo amid growing speculation in the last few days. However, the report claims they might demand at least £80-85 million, which could give those interested clubs some food for thought.

That figure is a decent hike over Arsenal’s reported £70 million offer in January, which Brighton rejected. The Seagulls expect the Gunners to pay what is necessary, as they consider their interest serious at this stage.

Mikel Arteta is adamant about the midfielder and may push the club to sign him alongside Declan Rice. He might replace Granit Xhaka, who could leave the club by moving to Bayer Leverkusen. Caicedo pleaded with Brighton in January and may still feel inclined to join them if an offer came in.

Caicedo reportedly wants to play in the Champions League. Only Arsenal can fulfil that dream considering Chelsea, and Liverpool are the other interested clubs. The Blues were also involved in a bid in January but never made another after Brighton’s immediate rejection.

They are keen but cannot offer European football next season. The one thing they have is a player in whom Brighton are reportedly interested. The Seagulls have reportedly opened doors for a part exchange offer for Caicedo if they are keen on the player at the other club.

Levi Colwill, who played the season with the Seagulls, remains a player of interest to Roberto De Zerbi. After Chelsea rejected an earlier offer worth £30 million, Brighton are ready to make a record £40 million bid to test their resolve for the defender.

Todd Boehly may not want to pay £80-85 million for the 21-year-old but may play the Colwill card in the pursuit. Lastly, Liverpool could also enter the race for Caicedo. After wrapping up the transfer of his former Brighton teammate Alexis Mac Allister, they might go for another midfielder.

In truth, the £80-85 million Brighton want for the 21-year-old may cause Liverpool to cool their interest. Jurgen Klopp may not pay up such figures, which could open the doors for other suitors to swoop in, especially Arsenal.
