Arsenal are reportedly hoping to sign 21-year-old midfielder Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.

Moises Caicedo was linked with Arsenal during the January transfer window as well. But the move did not materialise. A report from Football Transfers claims that Brighton & Hove Albion expect Arsenal to pay up for the 21-year-old midfielder this summer.

Back in January, the midfielder publicly revealed his desire to leave Brighton & Hove Albion. But the Seagulls convinced the Ecuadorian international to stay and pen a contract extension with them. Apparently, the central midfielder is valued at £75 million, and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal are prepared to pay up for him.

They have been linked with West Ham United captain Declan Rice as well. The 24-year-old England international is reportedly valued at £100 million. Spending that much money on two midfielders could be a bit of a surprise and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners decide to sign one of the two players instead.

Caicedo has been a key player for Brighton and he has helped them secure European qualification this season. He will be looking to move on and join a bigger club now, and the opportunity to play for Arsenal will be an exciting option for him.

The 21-year-old is one of the best defensive midfielders in the league, and he will help Arsenal control the midfield better and tighten up at the back. He could be the ideal partner for Thomas Partey in the middle of the park.

Caicedo is already well-settled in the Premier League and could make an immediate impact at the North London club. Although the £75 million asking price seems quite steep right now, the midfielder has the potential to justify the outlay in the long run. He could sort out Arsenal’s midfield problems for the foreseeable future and develop into a world-class player for them.

Meanwhile, the report adds that agreeing on personal terms with the midfielder will not be a problem for Arsenal after they agreed on it in January. So it remains to be seen whether they can convince Brighton to lower their demands now.
