Nottingham Forest in talks to sign Dean Henderson

Nottingham Forest are reportedly hoping to sign Dean Henderson from Manchester United at the end of the season.

A report from 90min claims that Nottingham Forest have already opened talks with Manchester United to sign Dean Henderson permanently this summer. And Fabrizio Romano has added that the discussions are advanced.

The 26-year-old was on loan to Nottingham Forest this past season, and he impressed during the first half of the season. After that, he picked up a serious injury, and he was replaced by Keylor Navas in the side. Henderson will be hoping to play regularly next season, and staying at Manchester United might not be ideal for him.

He is unlikely to be the first-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford, with David de Gea on the verge of signing a new contract. It makes sense for all parties to go separate ways. So a permanent move to Nottingham Forest would be ideal for the 26-year-old.

Henderson has proven himself to be a capable Premier League goalkeeper in the past when he was on loan at Sheffield United. He has the ability to develop into a top-class player for Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has suggested that negotiations between the two Premier League clubs have advanced.

The English goalkeeper will be looking to play regularly and improve his chances of representing his country as well. Meanwhile, Manchester United need to bring in reinforcements this summer. So selling fringe players like Henderson could bring in a substantial amount of money.

They should look to cash in on the goalkeeper and improve their squad adequately so that they can challenge for the league title next year. Manchester United have been linked with a number of goalkeepers as well. So it remains to be seen whether they are ready to sanction the departure of the 26-year-old and replace him this summer.

Meanwhile, Henderson is still only 26 and has plenty of time to move on to a bigger club in the near future if he can continue to impress with Nottingham Forest on a regular basis. Keylor Navas has been linked with other clubs this summer. So it appears that Henderson could be his long-term replacement.
