Arsenal are keen on acquiring the services of Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who is on the radar of Barcelona.

According to SPORT, Arsenal are looking to land Ilkay Gundogan at the club ahead of next season. The 32-year-old midfielder’s future is uncertain, and he could be parting ways with Manchester City after the end of the season. The experienced midfielder is also a target for Barcelona.

Gundogan joined Manchester City in the summer of 2016 after an impressive stint at Borussia Dortmund. The German international has gone from strength to strength since joining the English club, and he has taken his game to the next level under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

The 32-year-old’s contract at the English club runs out after the end of the season. And, there is a lot of interest from across Europe in his services. La Liga champions Barcelona are keen on having him in their ranks.

Xavi is looking for an attack-minded midfielder who can help Barcelona take the next step. Gundogan can contribute to the attacking side of things and can even chip in with goals. They have lacked an attacking threat from the centre of the park in the absence of Pedri and want to make sure they have multiple options to work with.

Initially, the Catalan giants were not able to meet the financial demands of the player but have found a way to do so. They are willing to offer him a three-year contract instead of two to ensure his financial demands are covered over time. Barcelona will be offering him wages of around €9 million per season.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are in no mood to let their club captain leave. Guardiola considers him an important part of his plans and as a result, they have presented a revised offer after failing to impress him with the first. They are willing to give him higher wages than Barcelona and have proposed a one-year extension with an option of another 12 months in the hands of the player.

Arsenal are the latest team to have entered the race, and they are willing to give him a two-year straightforward contract with similar wages. Mikel Arteta is keen on adding two midfielders with a technical profile, and Gundogan seems to fit the bill perfectly.

Meanwhile, the experienced midfielder is contemplating a change of scenery. He is considering moving to Barcelona with his entire family and is keen on signing a two-year deal. While all three clubs are keen on having him, the final decision is in the hands of the 32-year-old.
