Barcelona will look to seal a cut-price deal for 27-year-old Brazilian midfielder Raphael Veiga in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Raphael Veiga is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The 27-year-old has emerged as an economical option to bolster the midfield unit at Spotify Camp Nou. And the Palmeiras midfielder will cost around €15 million in the summer transfer window.
Raphael Veiga moved around during his youth career, passing through the academies at Portuguesa and Pao de Acucar before graduating from Coritiba’s youth division. But his stock has risen since joining Palmeiras in January 2017. And while the Brazilian midfielder took some time to get going, he has been a regular for them in the last four years.
The 27-year-old has also made his debut for the Brazilian national side this year. Meanwhile, he is enjoying an excellent 2023 season thus far, directly contributing to 16 strikes (ten goals and six assists). Veiga’s progress has coincided with Palmeiras’s successful few campaigns. And the player’s progress has captured the attention of Barcelona.
Barcelona will enter the market for a midfielder in the summer transfer window. But it is unclear if they will prioritise signing a holding midfielder or someone who can regularly chip in with goals. And if Frenkie de Jong becomes Sergio Busquets’s heir, Barcelona will not need to invest in a defensive midfielder.
That is because Franck Kessie can also reprise the role whenever Frenkie de Jong is unavailable. So investing in an attack-minded midfielder might be the right course of action for Barcelona. And Veiga, who has directly contributed to 16 goals in just 20 games this season, is a viable target.
The 27-year-old Brazilian midfielder will not cost a bomb either. And Palmeiras will likely demand around €15 million to part ways with him. So Veiga is potentially a low-cost option to bolster the Barcelona midfield in the summer transfer window. That said, the newly-crowned La Liga champions have also finalised personal terms with Ruben Neves.

So it will be interesting to see if Barcelona will pursue an attack-minded midfielder like Veiga this summer. Nonetheless, the 27-year-old Brazilian midfielder is an attractive option to reinforce the Barcelona squad.
