Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks with 2022 FIFA World Cup finalist Marcus Thuram.
As per 90min, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with an interest in French forward Marcus Thuram, who has been the talk of the town. The three clubs are in talks with the World Cup finalist’s representatives.
Thuram’s availability has already been confirmed by his club, as Borussia Monchengladbach are looking to recover a very small amount to the tune of £10 million. Erik ten Hag recently insisted that Manchester United have been searching for the right kind of opportunities, and he will not rush in to compromise his current momentum.
“We are always in the market but it has to match the sporting criteria but also the financial criteria and we will do what we can to bring that player in that we need.”
Manchester United’s summer outlay forced their hand to some extent. And unless they make some huge sales, which is unlikely to happen, there won’t be many players arriving at Old Trafford next month.
Having already lost Cody Gakpo to Liverpool, the Red Devils are adamant to bring in at least one forward on loan. And Thuram has emerged as a viable target for Manchester United. Meanwhile, Arsenal are also interested in making a move for the player in January.
Gabriel Jesus is unavailable due to a knee injury, and his absence could be a significant threat to the league leaders. Their inability to act in January came to haunt them last season, and Arsenal are not going to repeat the same mistake.
Mikel Arteta knows the importance of having an additional forward. And Thuram’s flexibility will offer him more options up front. But Arsenal will have to fight it out with his north London counterpart Antonio Conte, who also wants to entice the player to his club.
Despite having the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Richarlison, Tottenham still want to upgrade their current contingent. Thuram impressed in the 2022 World Cup final as he helped his country to settle the score during regulation time. Inter Milan are also believed to be in the equation. But the call of the Premier League could be very hard to turn down.
