Tottenham Hotspur are set to offer Borussia Monchengladbach star Marcus Thuram a four-year deal worth €5 million-a-year

According to Inter Live, Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as a potential destination for Borussia Monchengladbach star Marcus Thuram.

Son of the legendary French World Cup winner Lilian Thuram, the 25-year-old is making a name for himself in the Bundesliga. With 13 goals and four assists in 17 games across all competitions this season, Thuram has proven himself to be a prolific attacker upfront.

With just months to go before his deal with Die Fohlen expires, both Tottenham and the player have decisions to make. The Frenchman is no closer to signing an extension for Gladbach, meaning the upcoming January transfer window could prove to be the final opportunity the Germans have of recouping any transfer fee.

Should the 25-year-old keep up his scoring run, more clubs could very well enter the fray. The likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and Liverpool are all set to be keen and prove to be a key obstacle in Spurs’ hopes of signing the 25-year-old.

Antonio Conte’s men have improved this season but are still a few additions away from serving as regular contenders for silverware. The attack, in particular, could do with an alternative to Harry Kane, something that Thuram can fulfil to a tee.

The North Londoners remain a plausible destination for the player, potentially netting him €5 million a year in wages. Thuram’s agent is also someone with a close affinity to the Premier League, meaning there is every reason to believe that his future lies in North London.

Primarily a centre-forward, the Frenchman is well capable of playing anywhere along the frontline. This versatility should see him fit into the Spurs’ attack and relieve the pressure of scoring goals off the shoulders of Harry Kane.

A good dribbler and finisher, Thuram should suit Conte’s system and provide the Italian with a much-needed backup goalscorer. With Harry Kane already suffering from fatigue, he can not be expected to play week in, and week out.

But then, Conte would be hard-pressed to drop the man who netted 35 per cent of his side’s goals this season. Despite having to wait until the end of the campaign to land him, Tottenham could get their money’s worth, given Thuram’s potential. A lot could change between now and then, but the North Londoners certainly have a real shot at landing the Bundesliga ace once he enters bosman market next summer.
