Chelsea have agreed on a deal worth €12 million to sign highly-talented young Ivorian striker David Datro Fofana.
According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have agreed on a €12 million deal with Molde for the transfer of David Datro Fofana. The 20-year-old striker is highly rated in European football and could prove to be a quality long-term addition to Chelsea’s attack.
The emerging Ivorian striker has been in fine form this season, scoring 21 goals and picking up seven assists across all competitions. Chelsea are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, and the signing of Fofana could not have been better timed.
Talented young striker Armando Broja has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a ligament injury. So Chelsea needed to bring in a quality replacement. It will be interesting to see if the 20-year-old striker can make his mark at Stamford Bridge during the second half of the season.
The player completed his medical in London yesterday, and he will be expected to join his Chelsea teammates next month. Fofana is expected to develop into a top-class striker in the future, and it remains to be seen whether Graham Potter can help him fulfil his potential.

Chelsea will need to bring in a number of attacking reinforcements during the summer transfer window as well, especially with the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggling to hit top form this season. Furthermore, Pulisic and Ziyech are expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
The Blues must look to bring in someone who is ready to make an instant impact of Stamford Bridge and improve them immediately. Fofana is more like a long-term investment, and Chelsea will have to nurture him carefully over the next few seasons. Meanwhile, the west Londoners are also set to sign Andrey Santos.
As for Fofana, the move to Stamford Bridge is a massive step up in his career. And it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to English football seamlessly. Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has shown a willingness to invest in top young talents, and Fofana will be another exciting addition to the Chelsea roster.
