Crystal Palace are the favourites to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers for Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
As per 90min, Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be on his way out from the club, and Crystal Palace could be his potential destination. Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been credited with an interest in the player.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka played a pivotal part as Manchester United eased past Burnley in the Carabao Cup Round of 16 at Old Trafford. The 25-year-old has not been involved much this season, and the upcoming few weeks could be very important as they could decide his Manchester United future.
The Red Devils splashed out £50 million to avail of his service. And the former England Under-21 international had been a regular on the right-hand side of the defence until this campaign.
Erik ten Hag has preferred an offensive full-back rather than a defender who emphasises more in his defensive work. Diogo Dalot has thus been the favoured choice. But Wan-Bissaka is undoubtedly one of the best in the business when it comes to thwarting the opposition.
He came through the Crystal Palace academy and even got an England call-up following an excellent 2019/20 campaign. But the 25-year-old never really made it that far due to an injury. And he has not been included in the Three Lions’ setup since then.
Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne have been utilised by Patrick Vieira in that right-back position. But the Crystal Palace manager is inclined towards using a much younger lineup. And neither Ward nor Clyne fits into that criteria. Wan-Bissaka has thus emerged as a target for Crystal Palace.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are also keeping a tab on the player as Julen Lopetegui has prioritised a new defender to provide an adequate cover for Nelson Semedo. They are struggling at the bottom of the table, and some huge changes are in the offing next month.
Manchester United have already been chalking a plan to fill in the boots of Wan-Bissaka should he leave and several players are being tracked. Erik ten Hag wants more competition for Dalot, who is set to be involved for at least another season as the club decided to trigger the one-year extension option in his contract.
