Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen eyeing Juanmi Latasa swoop

Bundesliga clubs Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly keen on signing Juanmi Latasa from Real Madrid this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Juanmi Latasa could leave Real Madrid on loan in the summer transfer window, with Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt keen on signing him. But the Merengues want to tie the 21-year-old to a new deal before he departs.

Juanmi Latasa has been with Real Madrid since joining them from local Madrilenian club Union Adarve in 2016 as a 15-year-old. The young Spanish striker made swift progress in La Fabrica before turning professional by making his debut for Real Madrid B in 2019.

The 21-year-old whizkid has since been a pivotal member of Real Madrid’s reserve side but made his first-team debut towards the final stages of the 2021/22 season. Latasa made his bow in the 1-1 draw with Cadiz last month and is primed for big things at the Santiago Bernabeu. But Real Madrid could lose the Spaniard on loan to a Bundesliga club in the summer transfer window.

The interest from Bayer Leverkusen is understandable, considering departed from BayArena to join Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer transfer window.

The departure of the 29-year-old, who was briefly linked with Real Madrid, has left a spot open in Bayer Leverkusen’s attacking unit. But Latasa will likely play second fiddle to Patrik Schick, who will remain at the Bundesliga club in the 2022/23 season.

As for Eintracht Frankfurt, it is unclear why the UEFA Europa League winners want to sign the 21-year-old whizkid after securing the services of Alario. A move to Bayer Leverkusen will thus be the better choice for Juanmi Latasa, but Real Madrid will look to tie him down to a new contract before he leaves.

Juanmi Latasa has also popped up on the radar of Rayo Vallecano. But the allure of playing in the UEFA Champions League might tip the scales in the favour of moving to the Bundesliga. Reports have also claimed that Real Madrid wanted to promote the Spanish striker to the first-team setup as Luka Jovic’s replacement. But a loan move to a German club might be on the cards instead.
