Real Madrid will reportedly demand up to €35 million for Marco Asensio, with Arsenal and Manchester United open to paying such a sum.
According to a report by Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal and Manchester United know how much they will need to shell out to secure the services of Marco Asensio in the summer transfer window. Real Madrid will demand between €30 million and €35 million for the Spanish forward.
Marco Asensio has a big decision to make this summer as he will enter the final month of his Real Madrid contract in July. With talks between the two parties not progressing much thus far, the 26-year-old could leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, although he might not have any qualms about staying for another year.
But with several European bigwigs hot on the Spanish international’s heels following a solid season which ended with a tally of 12 goals and two assists in 42 outings across all competitions, a summer departure might also be on the cards. Arsenal and Manchester United are hoping to snap Asensio up this year, with his price tag of around €35 million unlikely to deter them.
Arsenal recently rejoined the race to sign Asensio from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window after re-establishing contact with his representatives. And with Nicolas Pepe’s long-term future up in the air, the Gunners might need to invest in a wide-attacker in addition to a striker.
Asensio is thus a viable target for Arsenal, who will not be the only Premier League club vying for the signature of the Real Madrid forward. The Gunners face stiff competition from Manchester United in the race to sign the Spaniard.
Like Arsenal, Asensio is also in contact with Manchester United, who can address their long-standing issues on the right wing by signing the 26-year-old. With Mason Greenwood indefinitely suspended and Marcus Rashford blowing hot and cold, the Real Madrid forward is an option worth considering for Manchester United.
Apart from Arsenal and Manchester United, AC Milan and Juventus are also keen on signing Asensio. But neither Serie A club will pay around €35 million for Asensio, thus giving Arsenal and Manchester United the advantage in his pursuit due to their willingness to shell out such a sum to prise him away from Real Madrid.
