La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up a move for Sadio Mane, who will look to leave Liverpool this summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Sadio Mane is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Senegalese international is ready to leave Liverpool to embark on a new challenge heading into the 2021/22 season.
Sadio Mane has played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s ascent in the last half a dozen years, with the Reds going from top-four hopefuls to regular title contenders during this period. In doing so, the 30-year-old has established himself as one of the best players in Europe.
The Senegalese international enjoyed an excellent 2021/22 campaign, amassing 23 goals and five assists in 51 appearances for Liverpool. Mane also won the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal while qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. But the player’s contract situation has left Liverpool in a spot of bother, with his contract running out next year. Such a situation has alerted Real Madrid.
The interest from Real Madrid likely stems from their inability to secure the services of Kylian Mbappe. Los Blancos chased the French international for nearly a year before he surprisingly chose to snub them and stay put at Paris Saint-Germain. And the Spanish giants immediately set about identifying alternatives.
Several players have already popped up on Real Madrid’s radar, with Mane the latest to emerge as a target for the Merengues. Recent reports have suggested that the Liverpool forward is keen on joining Real Madrid. So despite the heavy links with Bayern Munich, a move to the Santiago Bernabeu could be on the cards.
Mane’s desire to leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window gives Real Madrid a good chance of signing him. While the 30-year-old is reportedly open to joining Bayern Munich, Real Madrid’s emergence could work in Los Blancos’ favour.

Liverpool will reportedly demand around €50 million to part with Mane in the summer transfer window, and it is unclear if Real Madrid will be ready to pay such a sum to secure his services. But Mane’s eagerness to embark on a new challenge will give suitors the upper hand in the race to sign him.
