Real Madrid and Newcastle United have been asked to stump up €15 million to sign 26-year-old French midfielder Adrien Rabiot from Juventus.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Real Madrid and Newcastle United now know how much they will need to fork out to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus. The Serie A giants are demanding €15 million to part ways with the 26-year-old midfielder in the January transfer window.
Adrien Rabiot joined Juventus in the summer of 2019 following an acrimonious exit from Paris Saint-Germain. However, the move to the Allianz Stadium has not worked out as envisioned for the French midfielder, even though he has featured regularly for the Bianconeri.
To date, the 26-year-old has made 95 appearances for the Serie A giants, chipping in with six goals and five assists in the process. However, Rabiot’s time at Juventus could be drawing to a close, as the Italian outfit intend to cash in on the underperforming midfielder, hoping to get his massive wages off their books. Such a situation has piqued the interest of Real Madrid and Newcastle United.
Real Madrid are touted to be in the transfer market for a central midfielder as Luka Modric is in the twilight of his career. In addition, with Isco and Dani Ceballos merely being bit-part players, the Merengues can surely do with a midfield reinforcement despite the addition of Eduardo Camavinga in the summer transfer window.
Recently, it was reported that Real Madrid had no interest in signing Rabiot, even though they had the opportunity to secure his services. However, the report by Calciomercato contradicts those claims, suggesting Los Blancos are hot on his trail. On the other hand, Newcastle United are eyeing Rabiot as part of their bid to overhaul the first-team squad.
Even though Rabiot has blown hot and cold at Juventus, he would still be an upgrade on every midfielder in Eddie Howe’s squad at present. With that in mind, it is understandable the Magpies are interested in the 26-year-old. And now, Newcastle and Real Madrid know how much they will need to fork out to land Rabiot in January.
According to the report, Juventus are demanding €15 million in exchange for the French midfielder this winter. What remains to be seen is if Newcastle and Real Madrid are willing to shell out the required €15 million to secure Rabiot’s services in the January transfer window or if they set their sights elsewhere instead.
