Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all reportedly interested in signing Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho this coming summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Kelechi Iheanacho is starting to become a hot property in the market ahead of the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old Leicester City striker is being courted by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Iheanacho joined Leicester City from Manchester City in the summer of 2017 after failing to establish a foothold in the Citizens’ first-team setup due to the presence of Sergio Aguero. At the King Power Stadium, the Nigerian international did not make the best of starts, but has finally started to grow into a key figure for the former Premier League champions.
In the ongoing campaign, Iheanacho has a fine return of 15 goals and 5 assists in 31 appearances in all competitions, finding the back of the net once every 108 minutes. The 24-year-old has especially been instrumental in the Foxes’ run to the FA Cup final, having also scored the winner in their semi-final win over Southampton. His progress has now alerted Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Arsenal continue to be in a transitional state, as Mikel Arteta looks to shape the squad in his image. The Gunners are in a precarious position over the future of Alexandre Lacazette as well, while it has also been rumoured that captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be offloaded this summer. As a result, it is prudent for Arsenal to be in the market for a striker, making Iheanacho a viable target.
As for Chelsea, Olivier Giroud is expected to call time on his stint with the Blues while Tammy Abraham is likely to move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer. With Timo Werner also blowing hot and cold over the course of his short stint with the west Londoners, it makes sense to target a move for a striker.
To that end, Erling Haaland has long been touted to be a priority for Chelsea, although they also face competition from Manchester United, Liverpool and others in his pursuit. Martin Satriano, who is also on Arsenal’s radar, is also reportedly a target, with Iheanacho now popping up on their radar.
Meanwhile, Manchester United could be set to prepare for life after Edinson Cavani, who has been heavily linked with a move to Boca Juniors. In addition, question marks loom over the future of Anthony Martial as well and to that end, it is not hard to see why Manchester United could be in the market for a striker, with Andre Silva one of their targets, apart from Iheanacho.
What now remains to be seen is if Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United can make any headway if they choose to launch the offensive for Iheanacho. For now, it looks like the 24-year-old is one of the options being considered by the three Premier League heavyweights for a summer move.
