AC Milan are reportedly in advanced talks with Chelsea over a loan move for Fikayo Tomori with the Blues demanding €30 million in the purchase option.
According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, talks between AC Milan and Chelsea over a possible January loan move for Fikayo Tomori have reached an advanced stage. This loan deal will also give the Rossoneri an option to buy him for €30 million in the summer transfer window.
AC Milan director Massara always wanted Fikayo Tomori, also when he was working at AS Roma.
Negotiations are now in advanced stage w/Chelsea to sign him on loan with buy option [and *not* obligation] around €30m.
AC Milan hope to complete the deal in the coming days. ? #CFC https://t.co/fNugNaOzZ1

Fikayo Tomori has endured a brutal leveller so far in the 2020/21 season following a fine campaign last term. Indeed, 2019/20 was the breakthrough season for the 23-year-old, who not only became a regular face within the Chelsea first-team setup but also made his England bow.
In the ongoing campaign, though, Tomori has gone tumbling down the pecking order at Chelsea, with Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and summer signing Thiago Silva all ahead of him in the pecking order. As a result, the youngster has managed just 4 appearances in all competitions, and his situation has alerted AC Milan among others.
It is only this week that AC Milan’s links with Tomori started to emerge, with the Chelsea outcast identified as a possible alternative to Mohamed Simakan, who has coincidentally also been linked with Chelsea in the past month or so. It now looks like the contingency plan is going through, with director of football Frederic Massara spearheading the pursuit.
In fact, Fabrizio Romano has added that Massara even tried signing Tomori when he was at AS Roma. As for AC Milan’s approach, Romano has suggested that the Serie A leaders have reached an advanced stage on their negotiations with Chelsea over the possibility of a loan move this mont.
It is also claimed that while the deal would give Milan an option to buy Tomori in the summer transfer window, Chelsea will ask for the option to include a €30 million valuation. What is not clear, though, is whether the Rossoneri are ready to meet this valuation.
Romano finally adds that AC Milan are hoping to conclude the deal in the coming days, meaning an agreement could be reached imminently. While this is a far cry from Chelsea’s earlier reported stance on Tomori’s availability, it now looks like the 23-year-old is set to depart Stamford Bridge, at least temporarily, this month.
