Premier League Gameweek 9 tips: Mourinho vs Pep, Rodgers back at Liverpool and more | THT Betting Corner

We provide potentially marketable betting tips for Gameweek 9 of the Premier League featuring Tottenham vs Manchester City as the Match of the Day.

Another international break ends and this time around, the Premier League has paced along nicely, with the 2020/21 season now in the 9th Gameweek. An inconsistent Newcastle kick us off on Saturday afternoon, with Chelsea paying them a visit. Aston Villa, 2020/21’s surprise package so far, will host one of five teams who have fewer points than matches played, Brighton.

That match will be followed by a blockbuster Jose Mourinho vs Pep Guardiola encounter, with Mourinho managing Tottenham this time around against Guardiola’s Manchester City side, who are yet to find their footing this season. Manchester United take on lowly West Brom in hopes of climbing up the table as quickly as possible.

Sunday brings us multiple entertaining fixtures in the form of Leeds vs Arsenal and Sheffield United vs West Ham. The latter one will be a huge test for both sides. The Blades have found themselves unable to get out of a potential second season syndrome while West Ham seem rejuvenated under David Moyes this season, despite all the difficulties.

However, the match to look for on Sunday would be the return of Brendan Rodgers to Anfield as an injury-stricken Liverpool take on Leicester in a top-of-the-table clash. The Gameweek ends with another intriguing matchup, with Wolves going up against Southampton at the Molineux.

Newcastle have played well against the bigwigs this season so far in terms of scorelines. However, their actual performances have been very inconsistent and Chelsea will be a magnanimous test for Steve Bruce & co.

Frank Lampard is slowly getting the summer arrivals to kick on and get going, with the injured stars also returning to fitness. Chelsea are perilously close to the top, despite being criticised for the majority of the season thus far. Expect Werner to shine, especially after a lacklustre 6-0 defeat with Germany at the hands of Spain during the international break.

Favourable Bets

1. Timo Werner to score anytime @ 1.80

Hot Ones

1. Over 3.5 Match Goals @ 2.62

Tottenham vs Manchester City

Clash of the champions – talking purely about the managers involved in this fixture. Pep Guardiola signed an extension to put to rest all rumours linking him to a Manchester City exit. Jose Mourinho has gotten Tottenham to be on song again, this time with a more robust tactical plan to fall back on.

Despite the odds favouring the away side, for once, we believe Tottenham come into the side as the one in form and will likely have the upper hand in terms of the risk involved in such a fixture. For Pep & co., this is a must-win in order to stake their claim as title challengers for this season. For Mourinho, it would be a result that could take them to the top of the table while showing just how strong Spurs’ title challenge is.

Favourable Bets

1. Under 3.5 Match Goals @ 1.53

Hot Ones

1. Tottenham to win @ 3.90

Manchester United vs West Brom

West Brom braved the waters at Tottenham for the longest of times, only to lose to a late Harry Kane winner. Manchester United did come back from a goal down to win 3-1 over Everton. Two teams on contrasting ends of the Premier League, the result on paper, is a done deal.

Despite the respect that West Brom will give and the low-block Slaven Bilic will deploy, Manchester United should find it in them to unlock the defence. A high-scoring affair is on the cards, with West Brom likely to be on the receiving end of most of the goals.

Favourable Tips

1. Manchester United Asian Handicap -1.5 @ 2.050

2. Edinson Cavani to score anytime @ 2.10

Hot Ones

1. Manchester United Team Total Goals Over 3.5 @ 4.50

Leeds vs Arsenal

An even matchup is expected, despite Leeds United losing their way a bit since a solid start. Arsenal have never gotten going really this season and are in danger of settling for mediocrity if they don’t manage to string together wins during the festive period. We are going to favour Leeds to get something out of this game, purely based on Arsenal’s inconsistency and the Marcelo Bielsa factor.

Favourable Bets

1. Full-Time Result – Leeds or Draw @ 1.61

Hot Ones

1. Leeds to win @ 3.00

Liverpool vs Leicester

A game that is even on paper right now, counting in Liverpool’s injury-stricken backline and Leicester’s form. Brendan Rodgers would want his return at Anfield to be a fruitful one and the Foxes actually have the top place in the Premier League to defend right now. Jurgen Klopp would hope his attackers come in clutch. However, we could see a shock result that wouldn’t be much of a shocker, given the circumstances.

Favourable Bets

1. Full-Time Result – Draw or Leicester @ 1.83

Hot Ones

1. Leicester to win @ 3.80

Best of the Rest

Everton will be intent on coming back to winning ways as they go up against Fulham while Burnley could be in for their first win on the back of the international break factor as they face Crystal Palace.

Favourable Bets

1. Everton to beat Fulham @ 1.85

2. Sheffield United vs West Ham – Both Teams to Score – YES @ 1.90

Hot Ones

1. Burnley to beat Crystal Palace @ 2.75
