We provide potentially marketable betting tips for Gameweek 5 of the Premier League featuring Everton vs Liverpool as the Match of the Day.
The international break is over but has brought with it a few mixups due to player injuries and unavailabilities. The Premier League fans, though, will be treated to a cracker of a start to the gameweek, with the Merseyside derby on Saturday. A hungry Everton will look to break their 10-year curse as they welcome Liverpool at Goodison Park.
Carlo Ancelotti vs Jurgen Klopp is not the only managerial match-up to look forward to this Matchday. Former Manchester United managers David Moyes and Jose Mourinho meet as Tottenham host West Ham on Sunday whereas Steve Bruce welcomes his old club Manchester United to St. James’ Park.
There’s the apprentice against the master headline as well, with Mikel Arteta returning to Etihad to face Manchester City. Two inspiring sides – Leeds and Wolves – will butt heads on Monday night in a mouth-watering match between the old guard and the new – Marcelo Bielsa vs Nuno Espirito Santo.

This could probably be Everton’s best shot at beating Liverpool in a decade. Carlo Ancelotti has brought in his players and the changes seem to have done wonders to the atmosphere around Goodison Park,. The Toffees are in form and have been setting the pace so far. Up against a Liverpool side that look scary despite not being in full gear, expect a free-flowing game with goals in it.
Favourable Tips
1. Over 2.5 Match Goals @ 1.53
Hot Ones
1. James Rodriguez to score anytime @ 4.50
Chelsea vs Southampton
Honestly, this one is a mixed bag. On paper, this fixture features two attack-minded teams with the right quality of players. But, their stars are yet to hit their stride which has culminated into not-so-eye-pleasing performances on the pitch recently. Southampton have kept back-to-back clean sheets while Chelsea have hit three or more in consecutive Premier League games now.
Either way, tread carefully while using the tips for this game.
Favourable Tips
1. Timo Werner to score anytime @ 1.72
Hot Ones
1. Chelsea to win to NIL @ 2.75
Manchester City vs Arsenal
What is Arteta doing differently to Pep? And why?
? More physical DM
?️ Pragmatic defending
⚽️ More possession in own third
? Strict adherence to playing out from back
⏳ Delaying implementing 4-3-3????

As mentioned above, the apprentice vs the master. Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola have both iterated their admiration for each other and adorned their respective qualities from their time together at Manchester City. Arteta seems to be brewing up quite an interesting concoction at Arsenal and it is something that could give City some trouble, seeing as Pep & co. haven’t had the best of starts.
Another high-game roller, we could be in for a classic.

Newcastle United vs Manchester United
Not many times have we seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under pressure since his arrival at Manchester United as the manager, caretaker and otherwise. However, two dull defeats out of three games to start the season off, including a 6-1 bashing at the hands of Mourinho’s Tottenham is stinging the fans and everyone around the club.
Echoes of internal issues have been sounded out in papers and rubbished subsequently, but there is bound to a proverbial axe hanging above Ole’s head and the next 5 games could very well determine his fate as the Manchester United manager. Steve Bruce has done brilliantly at Newcastle, with new signing Callum Wilson proving to a value buy.
Expect resistance from Newcastle, especially with Wilson leading the attack. However, Ole will expect a response from his squad and chances are, he is going to get one.
Favourable Tips
1. Manchester United to win @ 1.66
2. Marcus Rashford to score anytime @ 2.30
Hot Ones
1. Marcus Rashford to score 2 or more @ 7.50
Tottenham vs West Ham
A London derby that has Tottenham written all over it. West Ham has done well to start this season, but the lack of arrivals this window has left the entire squad feeling pessimistic and in a psychological fight with the board, especially over some departures. Mourinho would want his side to carry over the momentum from the 6-1 win over Manchester United and the players should oblige.
Favourable Tips
1. Tottenham to win @ 1.57
Hot Ones
1. Son Heung-Min to score 2 or more @ 8.00
Leeds vs Wolves
Another coin toss, really. Wolves have managed to freshen up their squad this season, lowering the average age of the squad without affecting the overall quality. Leeds, on the other hand, have made some quality additions to an already good squad. Leeds have been tipped to be the Wolves of this season, comparing the team to the Wolves side that had gained promotion.
Leeds’ performances so far give them a slight edge, but it would be intriguing to see just which Wolves show up on Monday night.

The Best of the Rest
