Arsenal outcast Matteo Guendouzi is set to join Hertha Berlin on loan while Liverpool midfielder could be on his way to Werder Bremen before Monday’s deadline.
According to a report by Goal, Matteo Guendouzi’s horrors at Arsenal are set to come to an end. The French midfielder is poised to join Hertha Berlin on a loan deal for the remainder of the 2020/21 season. Meanwhile, Liverpool, too, could see a midfielder leave before Monday’s transfer deadline.
As per an exclusive report by Football Insider, Werder Bremen have initiated discussions with the Premier League champions over the prospect of signing the Serbian midfielder. However, it is still not clear if the transfer will be in the form of a loan deal or a permanent one.
Grujic joined Liverpool from Red Star Belgrade in the summer of 2016, but has never really managed to establish himself in the first-team setup at the club. His stock has been on the rise lately, though, having enjoyed a productive spell on loan at Hertha Berlin.
Now back at Liverpool, the Serbian midfielder has been used sparingly, although he impressed in the Reds’ Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal last week. Nevertheless, his future at Anfield has still been uncertain.
Reports have suggested that Grujic is set to leave Liverpool, with Southampton and West Ham United linked with him. Now, though, Werder Bremen have opened talks with Liverpool over a possible move. With Jurgen Klopp giving the green light for him to be offloaded, a move to WErder Bremen could be concluded quickly.
However, it is unclear whether the Bundesliga outfit will sign him permanently or on loan, with both the options on the table. Werder, though, have to wait for Davy Klaasen to rejoin Ajax before making a move for Grujic. Meanwhile, another midfielder could be set for a move to the Bundesliga – Arsenal outcast Matteo Guendouzi.
Guendouzi joined Arsenal in the summer of 2018 and enjoyed two impressive campaigns at the Emirates post his move. However, the 2019/20 season ended in a disastrous manner for the French midfielder, who fell out of favour with Mikel Arteta due to attitude issues.

As a result, the youngster’s future has been called into question in the last few months, with several clubs linked with him, including Valencia and Barcelona. In recent days, interest from Marseille emerged and disappeared and now, it looks like Guendouzi is set to make the switch to Bundesliga, just like Liverpool man Grujic.
The latest developments suggest that Guendouzi has even undergone a medical at the club and the switch to the German capital might be a foregone conclusion. All that now remains is the official announcement, with Guendouzi set to swap Arsenal with Hertha Berlin on loan. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see where Liverpool’s Grujic lands in the coming hours.
