Manchester United were beaten 3-1 by neighbours and bitter rivals Manchester City in the 177th Manchester derby on Sunday.
Goals from David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan fired reigning Premier League champions Manchester City to a comfortable 3-1 victory over arch rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
Silva opened the scoring for Pep Guardiola’s side with a composed finish just twelve minutes into the game. Jose Mourinho’s men did rather well to keep the lead to just one goal heading into half-time, but just three minutes after the break, Aguero fired home from a tight angle to make it 2-0 for City.
Manchester United threatened a comeback when Anthony Martial dispatched a cool penalty in the 57th minute to halve the deficit, but the Cityzens held on, before substitute Gundogan put the game to bed four minutes from full-time.
The result sent City back to the top of the table, two points ahead of second-placed Liverpool, while United remain rooted to the eighth spot, twelve points below their bitter rivals just twelve matches into the season. And here’s how the Red Devils’ supporters reacted to their fourth defeat of the campaign;

Manchester United's 3 signings this summer: Fred £52m, Dalot £19m and Lee Grant £1.5m. This is the level of Manchester United's ambition. All 3 nowhere to be seen and nowhere near the quality of signings we need. A total and utter embarrassment. #MUFC

Liverpool and City fighting to the title and we are struggling to play a proper game of football. This is what Manchester United fan’s nightmare is made up of

How many goals did City score again Jose? pic.twitter.com/YjDLUW3jC6

Where's Dalot? Pereira? Fred? Bailly?
Why is Matic still starting? What did Lingard or Rashford do to deserve a start? But don't worry Jose will just blame it on the ref or the injury on Pogba.— vidit (@JoseMartialFC) November 11, 2018
They are genuinely miles and miles better than us, if nothing massive changes we'll never get close to a league title again

Really disappointing from Manchester United. Their goal should have kick-started more urgency and pressure. Massive gulf in quality between the two clubs. Same old problems.

I cannot believe Manchester United are 3 seasons in with Jose Mourinho:
•No fixed lineup
•No set style of football
•Over-reliant on individual brilliance
•No synergyIt’s not good enough for Manchester United. He’s not good enough for Manchester United. #MUFC pic.twitter.com/qP9IHkTncY

We’ve conceded 21 goals in 12 games but don’t worry. Ed Woodward, the CEO of Manchester United feels we don’t need to strengthen at the back. Ludicrous!!

The Manchester United defence was once again criticized by the supporters as Mourinho’s men now boast a goal difference of -1 in the Premier League. The absence of midfield mainstay Paul Pogba was also rued by the fans, as the Frenchman missed the game with an injury.
Manchester United have a negative goal difference & sit behind Watford are 12 games.
Quite remarkable. pic.twitter.com/Va3M9XGnw8

We might aswell stick 4 garden chairs on the pitch for our defenders

Look at how poor Manchester United's midfield has been today. Paul Pogba carries this midfield nearly every week.
If you give Pogba City's midfield, he becomes the best CM in the world. Believe it.

#mufc have to be philosophical about it. League season felt like a write-off in pre-season due to lack of investment and mood around club. City so superior. United missed Pogba and a fit Sanchez today.

Manchester United lack guts and passion going forward. Our midfield has no ounce of creativity. Our defence is a sorry sight. It's dead on arrival. Rashford is terrible at the moment. Tactically our team is dead. No tenacity, no urgency. @ManUtd @SuperSportTV #NFFC
