Arsenal had to work hard to continue their winning run as they beat Everton 2-0 at the Emirates, courtesy goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Everton created the more meaningful chances in the first half, even though Arsenal dominated the possession. The Gunners though, had Petr Cech to thank for keeping them in the game. Post the interval, however, Arsenal took control of the match, with chances starting to come in a bit more consistently.
One such opportunity would end up breaking the deadlock, as Alexandre Lacazette scored a beautiful curler that Jordan Pickford had no answer for. Soon after, Unai Emery’s men doubled their advantage as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a close-range effort, although it should have been pulled back for offside.
The final half-hour saw Arsenal retain control of the game, even though they didn’t add to their lead. And, Arsenal fans hailed the contributions of Lacazette and Aubameyang, with the strike duo starting to come into their own.

Awful performance prior to the goals but you have the likes of Lacazette, Aubameyang and Özil on the pitch it takes just a moment for it all to change

Full time thoughts
Positives
-) Aubameyang and Lacazette partnership seems to be improving with every game..-) Torreira is the defensive midfielder we have been crying for. He can't be benched.
-) Iwobi, Guendozi, Mkhi Welbeck shows we have good squad depth.

Lacazette and Aubameyang have 14 goals and 5 assists among them in the last seven games they’ve started together in the league. Electric duo. pic.twitter.com/uMIUZH0n2q

Fans also hailed Lucas Torreira’s performance as the Uruguayan midfielder made his first league start of the season for Arsenal.
Lucas Torreira played his first European match on Thursday and picked up an injury. He said he wanted to play on but the decision was taken out of his hands. With only 2 rest days, he played the full ninety minutes today and was his usual combative self. He’s an absolute warrior.

Torreira absolutely brilliant after receiving an early yellow card. He played in the 2nd half which shows the manager trusts him. Honestly I had thought he would be subbed off. Would love to see his stats today.

But, the hero of the match was Petr Cech, who played a huge role in Arsenal’s win by making a number of crucial saves.
Cech makes another super save. Hope Twitter is as noisy about his brilliant performance as it is about the odd misplaced pass.

Have a feeling Bernd Leno may have to a wait a bit longer for his Premier League debut. Petr Cech has been outstanding today. #arseve
— Mattias Karén (@MattiasKaren) September 23, 2018
Is it competition that has woken Cech up from his annoying slumber of last season or just self retrospection being the intelligent man he is?
Either way, we are glad to have this Cech back.

I’ll be ragin if Cech doesn’t get MOM today. Ragin.

He’s received a lot of criticism during his Arsenal career, and some of it has been warranted, but huge credit to Petr Cech today. When the team wasn’t performing he stepped up and kept us in the game & didn’t let his concentration slip once we opened the scoring. MOTM display.

Remember when we signed Leno and I was excited to never watch Cech play for Arsenal again? Yeah, lol at me.
