Wilfried Zaha is reportedly a shock summer target for Manchester City, who are eager to bolster their attacking options in the summer.

According to a report by The Sun, Wilfried Zaha is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The newly crowned Premier League champions, who are looking to boost their wide options in the summer transfer window, will need to shell out £50 million to land the former Manchester United winger.

Zaha has put a tumultuous spell at Manchester United behind him since rejoining boyhood club Crystal Palace in the summer of 2015. His impact has, in fact, been so pronounced that the Eagles have failed to win a single game that he hasn’t played since September 2016.

This season, the player has well and truly come into his own, having directly contributed to more goals than any other Crystal Palace player. His seven goals and four assists in 25 appearances is the same as captain Luka Milivojevic, who has 10 goals and an assist.

His exploits haven’t gone unnoticed either, with several top Premier League outfits trying to sign him in recent transfer windows. Heading into this summer’s transfer window, Zaha is a highly sought-after player once again, with Manchester City the latest club in his pursuit.

Pep Guardiola does not exactly have a shortage of personnel in attack, with Gabriel Jesus capable of manning the wide areas, if any of Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling or Bernardo Silva are unavailable. But, the Manchester City manager is eager to boost his squad depth by adding top class individuals, and Zaha seems to fit the bill.

The newly crowned Premier League champions even tried signing Riyad Mahrez and Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window, which suggests that they will definitely look to add a wide man this summer. Zaha could potentially be an asset for Manchester City, with his ability to play on either flank as well as down the middle.

The former Manchester United man will also add to the Citizens’ quota of homegrown players, which could do with a few additions in the summer. But, Zaha will not come cheap, with Crystal Palace slapping a £50 million price tag on him.

The asking price has understandably been driven up considering his value to the Eagles, alongside the fact that he still has more than four years remaining on his current deal at Selhurst Park. It now remains to be seen if Manchester City agree with Crystal Palace’s valuation of Zaha.

What appears certain is that Palace will find it difficult to keep hold of the former Manchester United man, with Manchester City likely to be joined by other ‘Big Six’ sides in the summer in pursuit of Zaha.
