Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly set to lock horns in pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Kai Havertz.
According to a report in The Sun, German teenage prodigy Kai Havertz is being tracked by Liverpool, who recently sent scouts to monitor him in an under-19 Euro qualifier against Belarus. The Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid is also the subject of interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.
Kai Havertz is an 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who progressed through the ranks at Bayer Leverkusen before breaking into the club’s first-team setup last season. The 2016-17 season indeed turned out to be the breakthrough campaign for the player as he established himself as a regular for the German outfit.
In all, Havertz made 24 Bundesliga appearances last term, bagging four goals and five assists – a decent return for a player whose career is in its infancy. While he is yet to score or provide an assist in five outings this season, the player has made a scintillating start to his career with the German under-19 side.
Earlier this week, Havertz led Meikel Schonweitz’s side to a 5-1 win over Belarus in an under-19 Euro qualifier, and the player was the star of the show as he scored four goals to inspire the comfortable success.

Suffice to say, his stock is consistently on the rise, with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United among several clubs that scouted him in the aforementioned match.
At Anfield, Havertz would make for an exciting addition to an attacking unit that already boasts the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and the highly rated Ben Woodburn.
However, with Coutinho likely to depart at the earliest opportunity following a failed transfer to Barcelona this past summer, Havertz could be a long-term replacement for the Brazilian, with Jurgen Klopp just the kind of manager who would be an ideal mentor.
At Arsenal, the future of Mesut Ozil, a player who Havertz is often compared to, is under increasing uncertainty, with a shock Bosman move to Manchester United being speculated as well. With Arsene Wenger boasting a proven track record of grooming world class attackers, Havertz could be tempted to replace his idol at the Emirates.
Meanwhile, the interest from Manchester United does come as a bit of a surprise, with the Red Devils already possessing playmaking stalwarts like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata, while also being linked with a move for Ozil.
Therefore, a switch to Old Trafford could result in a significant reduction in first-team action, and it is likely that Havertz would prefer a move to some other club. However, it remains to be seen if any of the three clubs can persuade the teenage prodigy for a move, or Bayer manage to keep hold of him.
