Alexis Sanchez is reportedly demanding a staggering £400,000-a-week deal in order to stay at Arsenal, amid heavy interest in his services
According to a report in The Sun, Alexis Sanchez is holding out for an eye watering deal that will see him pocket £400,000 per week to put pen to paper on a new contract at Arsenal. The Gunners, however, are falling short of the amount, having tabled a £275,000-a-week deal to the Chilean forward.
Sanchez’s career has come back on track since he joined Arsenal from Barcelona in the summer of 2014. Having taken no time to become one of the first names on the team sheet at the Emirates, the Chilean has established himself as one of the most menacing forwards in the Premier League today.
The player enjoyed one of the most productive campaigns of his career in the recently concluded season, grabbing 30 goals and 19 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions. Sanchez also became only the second ever Arsenal player reach double figures for goals and assists in the Premier League, having bagged 24 goals and 10 assists.
However, as the season wore on uncertainty started surrounding his position at the Emirates as he has been embroiled in a contract standoff with Arsenal for several months now.

The 28-year-old’s current deal is set to expire in less than 12 months, and while Arsenal have tabled several contract offers to him, there has been little development over reaching an agreement on a renewal.
Furthermore, with the Gunners finished outside the Top 4, they will play in the Europa League next season – a prospect that is reportedly pushing Sanchez close to a summer exit. As a result, the player has been heavily linked with several big clubs across Europe, with Manchester City believed to be leading the race to sign him.
Pep Guardiola already has a wealth of attacking options at his disposal at the Etihad, with the likes of David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero and Nolito at his disposal.
His options have further been swelled by the arrival of Bernardo Silva, but the Manchester City boss is still believed to be keen to boost his options. Thus, Sanchez has been identified as a viable target who can add a lot of quality to Guardiola’s squad.
The player, too, is reportedly enticed by the prospect of working alongside his former Barcelona manager. However, Arsenal are ready to fight tooth and nail in order to retain Sanchez. The Gunners’ latest offer for their prized asset will make him their highest paid player, with a £275k-a-week deal on the table.
Sanchez, though, is holding out for even more, having demanded a staggering £400,000-a-week deal to remain at Arsenal. It now remains to be seen if Arsenal budge and shatter their pay structure to keep hold of Sanchez or stand firm on their current offer.
