Juventus have reignited their interest in Mahmoud Dahoud, and are plotting a move for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, as per reports.
Italian publication Calciomercato have reported that Juventus are keeping an eye on German starlet Mahmoud Dahoud. The Serie A champions are set to rival the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.
Dahoud progressed through the ranks at Borussia Monchengladbach before making his senior debut in 2014 as an 18-year-old. 2015/16 was his breakthrough season, though, as Dahoud racked up 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing nine assists.
This season, Dahoud has notched up 29 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga side, bagging one goal and five assists and has been one of the positives in a mediocre season for the club.
The 21-year-old is rightly rated as one of the most promising young players in Europe and clubs have been circling around the player for some time now. Liverpool plotted a move for the Germany under 21 international in the summer, and the likes of Chelsea, PSG and Borussia Dortmund have joined in too.
Juventus, though, have been long-time admirers of Dahoud’s talents. Club chief executive, Giuseppe Marotta is a fan of the player, and the Bianconeri have been eyeing him for some time now. But, the Serie A champions are in an uncertain situation over the future of Sami Khedira, who is being linked with a move away from the club.
As a result, Juventus might be forced into the market in search of a central midfield reinforcement and they are, thus, preparing a move for Dahoud. The 21-year-old central midfielder has just 15 months left on his current deal with Monchengladbach, and there has been little development over a renewal.
So, Dahoud could be available for cut-price fee in the summer. However, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is eager to add to his central midfield options in the summer, with just N’Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas to choose from.
PSG, meanwhile, are facing an uncertain situation over the futures of Marco Verratti and Adrien Rabiot and are monitoring several options in the transfer market. Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, though, has a reservoir of midfield talent at his disposal and Dahoud’s acquisition could add further quality to his squad.
Liverpool were earlier reported to be in the race for Dahoud as well. With Jurgen Klopp keen to bolster his squad in the summer, a move for the midfielder could be on the cards. So, Juventus could face a fight on their hands for Dahoud and a bidding war could be in the offing.
