Stamford Bridge hero Frank Lampard iterates his desire to manage Chelsea one day.
The former England international is regarded as one of the finest to play the game and is highly regarded as a true Blues legend among footballing fans throughout the world. He honed his skills as a regular in the Chelsea side for over a decade before leaving for Manchester City and ultimately to the MLS.
Now, according to The Sun, the former Blues midfielder has claimed that he would love to manage Chelsea one day. Despite having no previous experience in managing, the 35-year-old believes he has what it takes to succeed at the helm.
Chelsea have seen a number of managers at the hot seat ever since Roman Abrahimovich took charge of the club in 2004. The likes of Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Luiz Scholari and many more have managed the Blues.
Currently under the tutelage of Italian manager Antonio Conte, Chelsea are looking to right all the wrongs of the previous season, and revert to being the feared side they were known to be across the continent.
While he seems to be struggling initially, Conte will certainly be given more time and funds to make amends at Stamford Bridge. This summer saw the Italian make some headway in the transfer market and he is already making moves for potential January signings.
Lampard will definitely be loved by the fans, but there are likely to be doubts about his managerial ability. He will certainly have the complete backing of the fans to take over as a Chelsea manager one day in the future; but, the board may not quite see him as the right man to take charge of the club without prior experience in management.
However, Lampard could be offered an assistant manager or a subordinate role at Stamford Bridge where he learns the ropes from the current man in charge, and then the former English international may take over from him when the time is right.
The Blues legend is currently plying his trade in the MLS with New York City FC. He has been enjoying his time in the United States and looks set to end his playing career there and this may just lay the foundation of a sensational return to a club he holds dear to his heart.
