Iker Casillas Could Sign For Arsenal Ahead Of Petr Cech: Report

Arsenal FC have turned their attention towards Real Madrid star Iker Casillas whilst awaiting Chelseaa s decision on Petr Cecha s future.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is believed to be in the market for a new goalkeeper and Real Madrid . legend Iker Casillas is reportedly on the Frenchmana s radar. The Spanish stalwart is reportedly closing on the cluba s exit door as Los Blancos are on the verge of signing David de Gea from Manchester United.

Arsenal are interested in signing Petr Cech from their biggest rivals – Chelsea. However, Jose Mourinho has dismissed every speculation that links Cech to one of Chelseaa s Premier League rivals. Despite the Czech international being a long-term target for Arsenal, it seems like the Gunners have moved their interest to Casillas as while still awaiting the Chelsea boarda s decision of Cecha s future.

Apart from Arsenal, Cech has also attracted interest from Manchester United but the Chelsea keeper is keen to remain at Stamford Bridge.

a I will decide based on what for me and my family was the best and it does not matter whether it is England, Germany, France and Spain,a Cech said.

a Next week we will have a meeting with Chelsea when the situation is clearer and all the cards are on the table. If I move, it brings difficulties. I must change everything, looking for housing, a school for children and so on.a

Going by Jose Mourinhoa s past transfer dealings, it will be safe to say that the Portuguese does not believe in selling players to cluba s who pose a direct threat to Chelsea, the only exception being Juan Mataa s sale to Manchester United. Hence, it is highly unlikely that Cech will be allowed to make a move to the Emirates given Arsenal and Chelseaa s long-standing rivalry. In such a situation, it will be best for Wenger to try and woo Casillas into making a move to the North London club. The Spaniard is about to be replace by a much younger and better player in the form of De Gea and if he agrees to move to Arsenal, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez might be more than happy to even let the three-time Champions League winner leave for free.
