Manchester City Weekly Transfer Roundup – City could compete with Man United for Gareth Bale, Chelsea want Dzeko to replace Drogba and Liverpool are keen on Jovetic.
Gareth Bale to Manchester City?
As per reports, Manchester City are ready to compete against their city rivals Manchester United to rope in Real Madrid star Gareth Bale in the summer. The Wales international has become a subject of speculation since his drop in form at the Spanish club. Gareth Bale has not lived upto his expectations and it is believed that his relationship with the club officials and the fans has deteriorated.
Bale has been repeatedly booed by Madrid fans due to repeated dismal performances. Along with City and United several other top European clubs have also shown interest in the player. If Manuel Pellegrini actually plans to bring in Gareth Bale, he might have to shell out close to 85 m pounds amount in addition to selling few players, to comply with the FFP guidelines.
Chelsea eye Edin Dzeko
Premier League champions Chelsea FC have decided to bring in Bosnian international striker Edin Dzeko from Manchester City. Dzeko, who mostly remains out of favour at the club due to the towering presence of Sergio Aguero, may opt to move out of the club in the summer.
According to Mirror, Jose Mourinho has planned to replace veteran Chelsea forward Didier Drogba and is targetting several players in the same position. Drogba, who has turned 37 , came back to the club last season and signed a one year deal. As his contract expires, it is highly unlikely that the Premier League winning manager will again offer a fresh deal to the club legend. In these circumstances, Dzeko might prove to be the perfect replacement for the ex-Cote D’Ivoire international.
The departure of Dzeko will also benefit Manchester City as the club can earn close to A?15million. Dzeko’s performance in this season has been extremely poor. He managed to score just 6 goals for the club and has also lost his place of second striker to Wilfried Bony. Edin Dzeko had joined the club in 2011.
Liverpool FC show interest in Stevan Jovetic.
Liverpool FC are keen to rope in Stevan Jovetic from Manchester City in the upcoming transfer window, as reported by Mirror. The Montenegrin international has had a dismal season for the Premier League giants. In 17 appearances he has managed to score just 5 goals. Jovetic has remained out of action for most of the season due to continuous injury problems, falling behind Aguero, Bony and Dzeko in the pecking order.
The Reds on the other hand want to bring in the talented forward and strengthen their squad, especially upfront. Liverpool have faced continuous troubles with their striking force this season after Luis Suarez left. They brought in Mario Balotelli but the Italian unfortunately failed miserably. Daniel Sturridge too was sidelined for most of the season due to repeated injuries. With Jovetic, Brendan Rodgers will have options to either play him as a Centre Foreward or as an attacking midfielder, depending on the system he employs next season.
