According to reports, Manchester City midfielder James Milner is set to join Liverpool FC in the summer for a free transfer. James Milner, 29, is running out of contract at the Manchester club by the end of this season. Along with Liverpool, Arsenal were also keen to rope in the English footballer for a free transfer, but now it is believed that Milner has decided to choose The Reds over the Gunners even though they did not qualify for UEFA Champions League next season.
The reason behind this decision can be that, Milner wants regular game time which is possible at Liverpool. Arsenal have an array of quality midfielders in their squad and realistically Milner will not get much first team action at the London club. Liverpool, on the other hand, will guarantee him regular football.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers thinks that Milner will perfectly fit into the squad and his seniority will be required in the side in the absence of Steven Gerrard, who is set to leave the club by the end of this season. The club is reportedly going to offer James Milner A?100,000-a-week salary to make him one of their top earners next season.
James Milner had joined Manchester City in 2010 from Aston Villa. In this season. he has scored 4 goals from 30 appearances and provided 6 assists.
