As the sun shines during a beautiful spring in Manchester, things continue to look up for 20-time English champions Manchester United. Out of the last ten games in the Premier League, United have lost only one and won eight a this includes a five-game winning run that the club are on currently.
While Louis Van Gaala s side have been hard to beat all through the season, they have often flattered to deceive when it comes to performance on the pitch. Yet, over the last three games at least, they have put in one top performance after another, conceding only two goals while scoring an impressive eight.
And, the good news just doesna t seem to stop coming to Old Trafford at the moment with the club receiving a major boost in their pursuit for Dutch winger Memphis Depay.
Depay, who played under Van Gaal at the World Cup last year, has been in sensational form in the Eredivisie and is the top scorer in the division with 19 goals. His impact as a whole has been nothing short of spectacular as he has created as many as 46 chances over the course of the current season.
As a result of that, Depay is, at the moment, one of the hottest prospects in Europe at the moment, drawing the attention of not just United but other European giants including fierce rivals Liverpool.
The 21-year-old was always going to leave PSV one day and current director Marcel Brands has admitted to the same.
a The chances are very high that he leaves. If you see what clubs are enquiring about him, they really are the best in Europe.
a When I talk for PSV I would say he is not ready and should continue here for another year. But I am realistic and if I worked at a big European club, Ia d buy him without question.
a With a heavy heart [we would let him go], because a great player and a great guy leaves. But we are also proud that a boy from the academy is going to make such a step.a
Because of his link with Van Gaal, United does seem like the likely destination for Depay in the summer. Daley Blind, another player who played under Van Gaal at the World Cup, left former club Ajax last summer to come to United and has flourished under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich trainer.
