Chelsea’ manager Jose Mourinho clearly did not like to be reminded that he would be against Chelsea’s only manager who has won the Blues, Champions League. Mourinho shunned talks of him against Di Mattero and sarcastically said that the Italian was way better than him in the game of football.
“If I play against him, he wins because he plays better than me. Unless I am fitter, which I don’t know, but normally he wins because he is much better than me.”Ai??said Mourinho dryly.
“I don’t play against him,”
“It is Chelsea against Schalke, it is not me against Di Matteo.”
Chelsea are already favorites to finish top of the their group, but Jose Mourinho believes that the group is still open and all three sides could enter the latter stages of Europe’s elite competition.
“Everything is still open”
“The group is easy to analyse, we can finish first, second or third,” he said.
“To finish third and go to the Europa League should be something that would be against the evolution of this team.
“This team wants to be a very good team and to be a very good team you have to play against the best teams in the best competitions.”
Meanwhile, Di Matteo’s Schalke enjoyed in a 3-2 wing against Wolfsburg on Saturday, and the former Chelsea player believes that there would be no room for sentiment when he takes on his former club , that he also managed.
“For me personally, I’ll just concentrate on my work of trying to win the game for Schalke. Chelsea also played on Saturday and they are in the same position as us in terms of recovery,” he said.
“We have the Champions League game on Tuesday where everything is still open and anything can happen, but we want to take at least a point from the home game.”
While Di Matteo would be focusing on a 5-3-2 formation, Chelsea would rejoice the full fitness of their inspirational striker Diego Costa. Mourinho himself commented on the situation saying “”It’s easy to see the difference in him now. He can run, he can sprint, he can get behind people, he can challenge for every duel,”
“It was very important for him to have these two weeks to recover properly.” added Mourinho.
Chelsea are already favorites to edge Schalke in their European endeavor and finish top of the group. Chelsea have already enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 win against West Bromich Albion over the weekend and would look to build on their impeccable league form which now amounts to 12 games unbeaten – a club record.
