. The high flying reds were given a reality check by bottom of the table Newcastle United FC on Sunday and defender Martin Skrtel scored an own goal to put Livepool FC 1-0 down.
Georginio Wijnaldum was creating all sorts of problems in the Liverpool penalty area and his attempted cross/shot was deflected by the Slovakian defender into the net to give Newcastle United the lead in the 69th minute. Wijnaldum went on to score another goal for Newcastle, one that he would be credited with this time, to make it 2-nil and St Jame’s Park erupted in celebration at the upset victory.
