Chelsea FC’s third choice goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is leaving the London side to join Leicester City. Jose Mourinho, announced Mark’s departure form the Chelsea squad after last night’s 3-0 victory over Watford. The details of Mark’s deal are yet to be confirmed, it is believed that the former Fulham custodian will join Leicester on a 18 month long deal immediately. Mourinho, speaking to Chelsea’s official website, asserted Mark’s move to Leicester.

“I want to publicly thank Mark Schwarzer because hea s leaving us and he was a fantastic guy for us.” said Mourinho.

“As a goalkeeper, when we needed him, he was there for us, and as a person and a professional he was an amazing guy in our group. On behalf of myself, my staff and my players I want to say we are going to miss the big guy and we wish him all the best in his new life at Leicester.

The return of loanee Thiabut Courtois in summer, has hampered life of goalkeepers in the Chelsea squad. The dependable Petr Cech himself has succumbed to the benches after Courtois’s inclusion. The necessity of a veteran third choice keeper was redundant to Chelsea as they already have their goalkeeping spots covered with Courtois and Cech. The Blues instead could grow talent, under the wings of Courtois and most importantly Cech. Mourinho was quick to agree to the aforementioned.

“Wea ll bring Jamal back from Middlesbrough. He was on loan there but he wasna t playing so for them ita s not a problem. For us, hea s a young, English goalkeeper. He can work with Courtois and Cech so for him ita s a good experience.”

However, with Mark Schwarzer on his way to Leicester, Jamal Blackman is expected to be Chelsea’s third goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Schwarzer’s deal could be more than fruitful for Leicester City, who are currently reeling against the backdrop of quality goalkeeping options. With Kasper Schmeichel out following a broken metatarsal, the Foxes are suffering from lack of depth and moreover quality in the goalkeeping department. Schwarzer’s inclusion is expected to change both.
