Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez will be out of action for four weeks, and the Gold Cup in the process, after undergoing a collarbone surgery, Mexico have confirmed.

Javier Hernandez fractured his right collarbone on Wednesday, in a warm-up game against Honduras. The Manchester United striker collided with Honduras defender Brayan Beckles, just before half-time, and had to be replaced immediately.

The Mexican team doctor Gerardo Aguiar has now confirmed that the 27-year-old forward underwent a successful operation on his collarbone and will be out of action for four weeks.

a Javier HernA?ndez underwent a successful operation this morning a he had two plates inserted in his right collarbone fixed with six screws.

a The prognosis is quite acceptable with good expectations for a quick recovery, which we hope will be in four weeks.a a Aguiar said.

.

This means that Hernandez will now miss the upcoming Gold Cup, which starts on 7th of July. Mexico have included Santos Luguna striker Javier Orozco in the squad as Chicharitoa s replacement. Orozco, who has made 11 appearances for the national team so far, is determined to make the most of his chances.

a Ita s a shame it had to be this way, with an injury to a Chicharitoa who is a standout player in the national team. But Ia ll make the most of my chance a Ita s important to come back with the Cup because ita s an obligation to win it.a – Orozco told the press.

This injury not only comes as a big blow to Mexicoa s hope of winning the title, but also to Hernandeza s desire to move away from Manchester United. Chicharito has remains unwanted by manager Louis van Gaal and he needs to find a new club in order to gain regular first team action next season. Earlier reports suggested that United could use Hernandez in a play plus cash deal to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. Those rumours have gone cold now, but Italian club Lazio and Inter Milan are keeping a keen eye on the striker. This new injury concern could however deter interested clubs from making a move.
