Manchester Citya s hopes of signing Kevin De Bruyne have been boosted with the contract talks between the player and Wolfsburg stalling.
De Bruyne was due to hold talks over a lucrative new deal with Wolfsburg this week, but is still waiting to hear from the German club.
Wolfsburga s chairman Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz had recently insisted that the player is not for sale, but, the news that the player and club have stalled contract talks will alert Manchester City.
Garcia Sanz told Sport Bild magazine. a We want to confirm our success this season in the future and, for that, we are keeping this team together.a
De Bruyne, 23, has been in sensational form for Wolfsburg following his a 20 million move from Chelsea FC and is being pursued by a host of European Clubs.
The Belgian has broken the league record by clocking up an impressive 21 assists and in addition has scored 10 league goals to help Wolfsburg finish second behind only Bayern Munich.
Kevin De Bruyne has also played more accurate through balls than any other player in the Bundesliga and at 111 chance created, was ahead of Eden Hazard of Chelsea FC as the second best across the top 5 Leagues in Europe.

De Bruyne was also recently named a Bundesliga player of the year defeating the likes of Manuel Neuer and Arjen Robben to the title.
After a vote between 183 professional footballers in the Bundesliga, The Wolfsburg midfielder collected 52.5% of votes ahead of the Dutch midfielder Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) with 23.5% of votes and German Bellarbi Karim with 6.6% of votes (Bayer Leverkusen).
While the statistics and honours are impressive, it remains to be seen what impact the potential new 45 million Raheem Sterling offer that Manchester City are preparing that is expected to be accepted by Liverpool FC has on de Bruyne’s pursuit.
