FC Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta believes his positive relationship with Mino Raiola, the agent of Paul Pogba, will give the Catalan giants a better chance of securing the Juventus star ahead of Chelsea FC, Real Madrid, and Manchester City. .
The future of Paul Pogba has been the subject of intense speculation over the past few weeks, and there are no signs of the rumours abating any time soon, with the French midfielder continuing to be linked with some of Europea s top clubs.
Catalan newspaper Sport had earlier claimed that Juventus had the following three offers on the table for the former Manchester United youngster: a 80m + a 10m in add-ons from FC Barcelona to purchase in July 2016, a 50m + Brazilian midfielder Oscar from Chelsea FC to purchase this summer, and a cash-only a 100m offer from Manchester City to purchase the France international this summer.
FC Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has claimed that him and Eric Abidal, the contender for the position of Sporting Director under Laporta, have a great relationship with Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola and that will give them the edge over other clubs should the former FC Barcelona president win the election.
‘We feel that the key to a potential signing of Pogba is Mino Raiola, with whom we get on with very well, both [Eric] Abidal and myself,’ Laporta told reporters.
‘We carried out negotiations with him for the deals involving Maxwell and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.’
‘Abidal also knows Pogba on a personal level and if this is something that gives the supporters confidence in our project, then we’ll talk to Juve, as he would be a positive addition,’ Laporta continued.
‘I haven’t spoken with the player or his club as being a pre-candidate forbids me from doing so. But there is no doubt that he would be a great signing for the club.’
The FC Barcelona presidential candidate had earlier claimed that he will sign Paul Pogba from Juventus, if he wins the election on 18th of July.
He insisted that Pogba is a enthusiastica about signing for the Catalan club, and also has also confirmed that Juventus are looking to sell the player at the right price to him should he become the president.
It remains to be seen how much truth is in the claims of Laporta that Juventus are looking to sell the midfielder.
Paul Pogba is certainly not short of options, with FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Chelsea FC all queuing up for the midfielder. It remains to be seen where the Juventus midfielder will head, if at all he is allowed to move.
