Chelsea FC are set to face London rivals Arsenal FC in the community shield on Sunday and Cesc Fabregas has expressed the love he has for his former club on the even of the tie.
Fabreagas received a mixed reception on his first return to Arsenal FC last April following his A?27m transfer from FC Barcelona to Chelsea FC.
As the 28 year old Spaniard gears himself up for another mixed reception with Chelsea set to face Arsenal in the community shield on this Sunday, he believes nothing can take away his love for Arsenal FC.
‘Love for Arsenal will never change’
Fabregas, who spent eight years with Arsenal FC before moving onto FC Barcelona, was quoted saying by the Guardian:
. a Whatever it is, it is. The love I have for that club will never change whatever happens and what is the most important is what I have with me are the memories.a
a The rest doesna t matter. I have great memories, love and respect for the club. You will never hear anything bad from me about them.”
‘Chelsea FC want to win the community shield’
Despite the community shield being looked upon as a curtain raiser to the season, Fabregas says that Chelsea are looking to it.
a Of course, it is not the most important game but we want to win and compete. It is a big game, a London derby at Wembley in front of all the fans a ita s a nice competition to play in,” Fabregas was quoted saying by the Guardian.
“Even if it is a pre-season game you still want to win. We are not worried that they might be fresher than us a they started 10 days before us a but we are competitors, we will want to win and it will probably be a great game.a
Fabregas made a good start to life at Stamford Bridge, clocking up an impressive 18 assists in the Premier League as Chelsea FC romped to the title and the player will be hoping that he can reproduce that form in the 2015-16 season.
